In February of 1993, two Central Florida
filmmakers named Bill Waxler and Roger
Darnell announced to the local trade media that they had recently completed
video post-production on a short dramatic film entitled "Bumper Crop."
Their film featured an aging man named Daniel Casey awakening from a nap
to finally understand that his guilt-ridden life has actually been worthwhile.
Directed by Waxler and written by Darnell, the nine-minute short starring
Mr. Harry Phipps, and also featuring an appearance by young Freddie Harmison,
had been shot on 16mm film on-location in Sanford, Florida, in July, 1991.
Credits include music by Peter Eisner, Eric Bills as director of photography,
editing and sound design by Robert Storer, John Christodoulou as location
sound recordist, William Elliott as art director, David Gray as assistant
director, Carolyn Clarke as production coordinator, Aileen Smedy as script
supervisor, Glen Albelo as first AC, Lenny Cooper as gaffer and lighting
director, Joe Mast as dolly grip, and Bubba Baker, Paul England and Eric
Smith as grips. In 2008, during a move, Darnell recovered a VHS dub
of Storer's 1993 Avid layoff. That version of the film is presented
here. Thank you very much for visiting; please consider leaving a
