Gender-neutral Castle exhibit lets children do medieval the modern way
...The thrones, in the imaginative abstract set designed by Lincolnwood's Luci Creative and built by Luci's partner firm Ravenswood Studios, are double- or even triple-wide. Instead of the traditional one monarch, this kingdom can be ruled, say, by a council of elders which, in children's museum terms, would mean 6-year-olds or by a cabal of siblings. The idea is "how do we all sit up here together," said AJ Goehle, Luci's director of strategy and design. "The museum wanted a non-literal castle," she said, "to deconstruct it and allow them to create their own story. That was fun for us to think about..."

...First Division Museum: A $7 million makeover of the museum celebrating the Army's 1st Infantry Division began last spring. Closed since Veterans Day, the museum and its new exhibits on the legacy of the "Big Red One" will reopen in late summer. An unveiling is set for Aug. 26, to coincide with the centennial of the division. The WWII-era U-505 submarine exhibit has been a popular draw at the world-renowned Museum of Science and Industry. Leviathan was brought aboard to help rethink the concept of a “diving simulator” attraction, using three large screens, 4D sound and console game-quality graphics via the Unreal Engine. To immerse visitors within this subject matter powerfully, MSI Chicago commissioned Leviathan to create a four-minute long, ultra-widescreen film combining HD cinematography with mesmerizing motion graphics and visual effects, and an original score from Joel Corelitz of Waveplant.
