Roger Darnell Principal and Chief Communications Officer
Publisher, press agent, consultant and writer-producer Roger Darnell is the principal of the Darnell Works Agency (DWA), the go-to PR firm for creative agencies, brands and entertainment ventures. Among his many early career highlights, he won a Scripps-Howard Foundation Fellowship for Journalism for his humorous original college newspaper column, had his poetry published in prominent U.S. regional reviews, served as a distinguished, supervisory-level Training Systems Specialist, Non-Commissioned Officer and Photojournalist in the U.S. Air Force Reserves, earned two B.A. Communications degrees from the University of Central Florida (one in Film with a minor in Advertising and Public Relations, and a second in Radio and Television), and wrote numerous screenplays for feature film and television projects (all unpublished).
After spending ten years as a freelance writer and production professional working on TV projects for Columbia TriStar Pictures, HBO, NASCAR, NBC and many others, Roger extended his reputation for success as a marketing executive in Hollywood before joining high-tech LA PR firm The Terpin Group in 1999 as an Account Manager. There, working with the executives behind many emerging high-tech companies, he shaped vast strategic PR campaigns, resulting in tens of millions of positive media impressions, the raising of millions of dollars in venture capital and other impressive feats. In 2000, Roger formed DWA to continue developing and publishing original content – and provide results-oriented business, marketing and PR support to a short list of phenomenally talented companies and artists, and their clients.
The creator of the experimental original video travelogue series Rare Air, he also served as co-executive producer of the feature-length documentary "Kickstarted" from writer/directors Jay Armitage and Jason Cooper, which explores creativity in the age of crowdfunding. An official selection at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, the American Documentary Film Festival, the Glass City Film Festival and New Filmmakers Los Angeles, "Kickstarted" earned a 2015 Gold Award at the Spotlight Documentary Film Awards. Roger's innovative approaches at developing innovative original content landed him a syndication deal with London-based global creative industry network Creativepool in 2017. Up-to-date DWA RESULTS and CASE STUDIES are readily available on this website.
Married to Beth Darnell since 1992, and father to Amelia and Riley, Roger also takes great pride in each of the recommendations he has received from clients and colleagues on LinkedIn.com, and in his friendships with some of the planet's coolest people.
