ENVOY has added Josh Austin to its roaster as product design lead. Austin joins ENVOY from Oakley, where since April, 2012, he has held the position of senior interaction designer. Over the past four years Austin also freelanced extensively as a designer and front-end developer. During his time with Oakley, Austin was closely involved with Airwave, the brand's pioneering heads-up display goggle. As his very first project involving a connected-product, this innovative initiative introduced Josh to a daunting set of challenges. "Representing the perfect mix of digital/mobile expertise and bottom line business thinking, Josh is the type of leader needed to advise bold clients moving forward in this rapidly changing world," commented Rommelfanger, agency partner and co-creative director. "Josh will be leading projects clients like VIZIO, 5.11 Tactical and Amazon, all of which have a local presence, while also working on portfolio companies within Envoy Ventures, our investment and incubator initiative."

In early April Scion introduced the 2014 FR-S “Makes Everything Epic” commercial, which we think accurately showcases the experience of driving an FR-S. Today, we’re bringing you behind the scenes for an inside look into the filming process of filming the new spot. To begin the day, the entire crew headed to the “set” on the streets of Los Angeles for a full day of filming. As usual, the team was out there early to prepare the equipment, cameras, and lighting for the shoot. Keeping up with the FR-S isn’t easy thanks to its athletic chassis, so to film it moving down the street, we employed a special pursuit vehicle, fully equipped with cameras and monitors that give the director an immediate look at how the image is being framed...

Arrow Electronics is looking to ditch its self-proclaimed "biggest electronics company you never heard of" label. One year after its first national TV campaign brought down its corporate website, it's using animated digital ads to help tell the story of what the company does. In this phase of its rebranding effort, Arrow sales staff have been showing off the YouTube animated shorts on their iPads for the past few weeks -- with the latest incarnation set to release this week. The 30-to 60-second pieces are part of Arrow's "Five Year Olds on Five Years Out" campaign, which highlights the company's various services as told through the mind of a five-year old.

News Coverage: Leviathan Takes On Titles from Amsterdam to SundanceTV

The opening titles for the Future Innovation Technology and Creativity Festival in Amsterdam, the FITC, held 24 to 25 February 2014, were produced at Leviathan, a creative studio in Chicago, working with illustrator and designer Sara Blake, who supplied the graphics package that was chosen to represent this year’s event. Further to incorporating the graphics, Leviathan’s brief included more than 60 festival presenter names that were to appear in the titles. Leviathan also produced the titles for a new SundanceTV original scripted series, ‘The Red Road’. Leviathan received the assignment through the series' creative team including producers Bridget Carpenter and Sarah Condon, and show creator and writer Aaron Guzikowski. The:30 animated sequence introduces each episode of the series which debuted on 27 February on SundanceTV.

At a VIP media event in New York City last April, Royal Caribbean International introduced the world to its spectacular new generation of Quantum-class cruise ships. As shown in a cinematic short film and visually breathtaking photographic imagery, the first-in-its-class Quantum of the Seas cruise ship will offer 16 decks' worth of game-changing 'firsts at sea' to a total of 4,180 guests. Even though the actual Quantum of the Seas was still under construction and not set to sail until the autumn this year, Royal Caribbean wanted travel agents and travellers to start getting excited about the new ship as soon as possible. To achieve that, it turned to media and marketing services company Mindshare to create the groundbreaking short Experience Quantum of the Seas. The resulting eight-minute HD film stars many Hollywood celebrities, and thanks to Brewster Parsons' VFX studio, the same 3D animation and VFX approach pioneered by James Cameron for Avatar.
